Labels, Safety Placards & Identification for Bus & Coach Bodybuilders
A public service vehicle carries hundreds of thousands of passengers over a working life that can exceed twenty years. In that time, the labels and identification products fitted to the vehicle will be cleaned daily, exposed to weather extremes, subjected to vandalism, and inspected by DVSA engineers and operators alike. Getting bus and coach labelling right is not optional – it is a legal, operational and safety requirement.
Lexicraft has worked with bus operators and bodybuilders including Arriva and Transport for London, supplying identification products that meet the durability, legibility and compliance requirements of the PSV sector.
Safety & Regulatory Placards
Public service vehicles are subject to detailed labelling requirements under the Public Service Vehicles (Conditions of Fitness, Equipment, Use and Certification) Regulations and the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations. Emergency exit instructions, door control labels, maximum capacity plates, fire extinguisher identification and first aid point markers must all be legible, colour-correct and permanently affixed. These are produced a custom labels in polycarbonate and polyester, with pressure-sensitive adhesive systems tested for adhesion to GRP, powder-coated steel and aluminium extrusion.

Interior Identification & Passenger Information
Interior bus labelling encompasses priority seat designations, luggage restriction notices, grab rail identification and CCTV warning signs. Lexicraft produces these as custom labels in durable polycarbonate and vinyl constructions, with anti-graffiti laminate options for surfaces prone to marker pen and surface abrasion. Digital print capability allows short-run operator-specific and route-specific variants to be produced economically without tooling costs.
Driver Cab & Operational Panel Overlays
Driver cab identification – including instrument fascias, switch identification panels and operational instruction placards – must be legible under all lighting conditions and resistant to the cumulative effects of daily cleaning. Lexicraft’s graphic overlays and control panels are produced in polycarbonate and polyester with embossed button areas and selective adhesive patterns, suitable for both flat and curved dash panel surfaces. Aluminium sub-panels are available for applications requiring a rigid construction.

Chassis & Running Gear Nameplates
Below the body, identification products face road salt, diesel exhaust, brake dust and direct water impingement. Lexicraft supplies custom nameplates in anodised aluminium and stainless steel for chassis components, axle identification plates, tyre inflation specification plates and under-floor equipment rating labels. These are specified with adhesive systems and surface treatments appropriate to the harsh underfloor environment.
Exterior Body Decals & Fleet Graphics
Fleet operators use exterior body graphics to reinforce brand identity across multi-operator networks. Lexicraft’s custom decals are produced by screen and digital print with CAD/CAM cutting, in cast vinyl with laminated surface protection for resistance to jet washing, road grit and solvent-based cleaning. Computer-cut individual lettering is available for fleet numbering and route identification. Retroreflective options are available for school bus and emergency vehicle applications where night-time visibility is a legal requirement.

Fleet Management & Traceability
Modern fleet operators require vehicle-level traceability from first registration through to end-of-life disposal. Lexicraft integrates asset numbering, barcode and QR code schemes into label and nameplate designs, enabling integration with fleet management systems. Tamper-evident constructions and void-on-removal adhesives are available where theft deterrence or component authentication is required.
